# How we build our rankings

Bottom line

Our rankings rely on public data, a criteria grid published in advance and identical for all, and a monthly refresh. The **numeric score (out of 100)** combines two public, verifiable signals: the **Google rating** (up to 60 pts) and the **review volume** (up to 40 pts). The other criteria below are assessed qualitatively; when observed during our direct calls and tests, they translate into “**comparative survey**” points shown separately under the relevant business.

## Our criteria

-   **Reviews & reputation** — Google rating weighted by review volume.
-   **Compliance** — verified scale, police register, ID check.
-   **Opening hours** — hours and days open.
-   **Home visits** — offered or not.
-   **Payment** — transfer/cheque (never cash), delay.
-   **Expertise & services** — gold, silver, jewellery, watches, coins.

## Sources & freshness

Google Business listings, dealers’ websites, trade registers. Every data point is dated. The ranking is refreshed every month.
